In the Markets Business Risks & Controls Technology team, the role of the Product Owner is pivotal in bridging the gap between business users and technology experts.
The primary goal of this role is to manage and guide the development of our tech products according to the business needs.
This includes steering the product requirements, managing stakeholder expectations, and delivering on-time, on-scope product updates. The Product Owner serves as a critical conduit of information and expertise, enabling effective decision-making and strategic planning.Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the tech product portfolio in the risk and controls area of investment banking.
- Collaborate with the tech team to ensure that the product development aligns with the business needs and requirements.
- Serve as an effective communication bridge between senior stakeholders, User Experience team, and the tech team, ensuring clear and precise conveyance of needs and expectations.
- Participate in steering and defining product requirements based on understanding of the market and user needs.
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring that all items are appropriately prioritized and prepared for sprint planning.
- Manage stakeholder expectations regarding product development, delivery timelines, and scope.
- Ensure ontime, onscope delivery of product features and updates.
- Continually assess the risk and control landscape, identifying areas for product improvement or new product opportunities.
- Provide direction and technical leadership on complex, highimpact projects and in all phases of the development and implementation process.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for both the stakeholders and the tech team, providing guidance and expertise.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in business analysis, systems analysis, product owner, product manager, or equivalent role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex tech products, ideally within a banking or financial services context.
- Previous experience in the risk and controls area of investment banking is preferred.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management, especially with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; background in Engineering preferred or prior experience operating in a similar role.
