'JOB TITLE:
Machinist
REPORTING TO:
Head of Design & Draughting
LOCATION:
James Wellesley Ltd, Motney Hill Road, Kent, ME8 7TZ
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Operation of a variety of woodworking machinery to produce parts for joinery;
- Working from joinery construction drawings and cutting lists to determine machining requirements
- Setting and operating machines to produce product with consistent results that meet specifications and expected high quality standards
- Safe operating of machinery within H&S requirements and Safe Systems of Work
- Reporting machinery and product faults to management
- Quality control checking all machined parts and components to ensure highest of standards
- Collaboration with draughting and assembly teams to ensure machined parts meet required details and specifications
Requirements:
- 5 years plus experience as joinery Machinist or similar role
- Exceptional knowledge of joinery design and construction
- Ability to read and interpret joinery technical construction drawings
- A keen eye and attention to detail
- Excellent organisational ability

- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
- Review blueprints, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces
- Perform complex programming, setup, and operation of CNC machines
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Inspect finished workpieces for quality and accuracy
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines or tools as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machinist or in a similar role
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining principles
- Proficiency in using SolidWorks, CAD, and other software for design and programming
- Experience with power tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments
- Familiarity with plastics injection molding processes is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Basic math skills for calculations and measurements
- Knowledge of tooling design, assembly, and maintenance
Pay:
£14.00-£16.50 per hour
