Finance Assistant

Hours: 27.5 Per week, term time only

Finance Manager


Pay grade:
KR5 + FAW Allowance


  • Purpose of Job:_


To provide a wide range of financial and related administrative duties within the Finance team, supporting the work of the school and pupil learning.


  • Principal Accountabilities:_
  • Provide budget managers with timely monitoring reports to enable them to control their budgets in accordance with the school's requirements, and providing essential information for the managed budgets.
  • Maintaining financial systems and procedures in accordance with KCC financial regulations and the school's finance policy in order to ensure the effective and accurate financial operation of the school budgets.
  • Chase outstanding dinner monies with parents.
  • Collection of monies for class funds, clubs and school trips etc. to ensure accurate records and timely payments.
  • Monitor delivery of orders, assisting with information for incoming deliveries.
  • Regular liaison with sixth form to ensure split site finance procedures are followed and efficient.
  • Respond to general financial queries from staff, the LEA, others schools, customers, parents and pupils ensuring that all queries are dealt with effectively and in accordance with KCC financial procedures in order to maintain an efficient service
  • Maintain the finance team's central filling system archiving/destroying documents as necessary to ensure that the school's Documentation Retention Policy and GDPR is adhered to.
  • Administer and collate business mileage expense claims for monthly payroll.
  • Undertake other routine admin duties and dealing with correspondence as appropriate.
  • Provide cover for Purchase Ledger and reception as required.
  • Adhoc tasks deemed appropriate from the Business Manager and Finance Manager
  • Adhoc tasks deemed appropriate from the Senior Leadership team.

  • Understand the importance of sharing information, how it can help and the dangers of not doing so.
  • Attend staff meetings, training days and management team meetings by agreement with the Headteacher.

Administration / other - Prepare and keep clean materials and undertake minor clerical duties.

  • Participate in the school's performance management process.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.

Health & safety

  • Be aware of and implement your health and safety responsibilities as an employee and where appropriate any additional specialist or managerial health and safety responsibilities as defined in the Health and Safety policy and procedure.

REQUIREMENT ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
