Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to support a teenage girl who has been restricting her food and fluid intake significantly for a sustained period.

She requires feeding against her wishes under restraint via an NG tube on a regular basis to prevent her physical health deteriorating.

The feeding process is a highly distressing time for this young girl. She has difficulty communicating her distress and restricts her eating as a way to express that.

This young girl is in Exeter and thrives on nurturing, kind, and supportive care. She responds best when spoken to in a calm, quitter volume and a level tone.

When she feels comfortable with someone she has a good relationship with she is more animated and engages well with humour.

You will be working 4:1

You need to be an experienced carer.

It is not essential that you have specific experience working with complex needs as you will get all the training you need.

You will be trained and supported by our outstanding team of specialists and nurses. This will involve training and shadowing until one of our nurses is happy to sign you off as competent. Training is paid for.

Pay Rates:

£15.00 p/hr Monday

Friday

£17.05 p/hr Saturday

Sunday

£20.05 p/hr Bank Holidays

For consistency a minimum availability of 2-3 nights a week would be preferable up to a maximum of 4 nights each week. Flexibility would be appreciated, but we are willing to consider your personal circumstances if there are nights/times you are unable to work.

Full mileage paid from home to this location in Exeter up to a maximum of 20 miles each way.

Permanent and bank contracts available. You can work full or part time.

You must be patient and caring and able to work on your own while providing care as part of a team.
