Your responsibilities
The Compliance Officer RWE Generation SE is a direct report to the Chief Compliance Officer at RWE AG.

You will head the department and support the Chief Compliance Officer in coordinating all compliance activities of RWE Generation SE.

Within the areas of expertise of compliance you will be also responsible to provide compliance advice to RWE Technology International GmbH and their respective subsidiaries.

As part of the legal department of RWE Generation SE you will have to closely co-operate with colleagues in RWE Generation ́s legal departments in the Netherlands and the UK as well as the other RWE Group companies' compliance departments.


  • Manage the international Compliance practice of RWE Generation SE, provide Compliance leadership and guidance to the Compliance department, the Compliance Officers in the different regions as well as the global business
  • Steer and contribute to a range of multidisciplinary projects in an intercultural environment, responsibly engage with commercial and support functions as key stakeholder to deliver holistic and streamlined advice on topics such as anticorruption and antimoneylaundering and thereby contribute to the overall business strategy
  • Develop and implement robust Compliance strategies and adapt these to regional needs whilst furthering RWE's Compliance Management System
  • Confidently deal with cases of suspected fraud, support investigations and respond to requests by local authorities
  • Independently design, steer and maintain different types of comprehensive training, processes and other operational advice (developments of drafts, assessment of products, evaluation of transactional structures) for the business
  • Design and prepare or deliver appropriate local compliance communication together with key stakeholders (local board, senior management, communication department) Design and execute compliancerelevant checks and controls to review effectiveness of CMS in the implementation in RWE Generation Group and take necessary steps to constantly improve the CMS

Your profile

  • You graduated in law with distinction and you are a qualified solicitor with at least 9 years of relevant work experience. Alternatively, you graduated with distinction in another field and have significant Compliance experience
  • You are confident to lead, manage and support an international team in a fast paced environment with often changing priorities, whilst remaining a dedicated and reliable team player
  • You are smart, motivated and a keen learner with an analytical mindset and a handson, pragmatic and proactive commercial approach
  • You like to think outside of the box, enjoy creative processes, pick up topics fast and you are fun to work with
  • You see the big picture and are able to provide general context around specific topics whilst not losing focus on relevant details. You get things done and you can also work accurately under pressure whilst structuring and prioritizing work for yourself and, if necessary, for your team
  • You have excellent stakeholder management abilities and you are able to build a solid network across countries and hierarchy levels. Translating complex legal topics into relevant messages is easy for you and you are comfortable to communicate across all hierarchy levels of the organization on eyelevel. You do not shy away from conflict and are confident to defend your position also when challenged by senior management or the board
  • You have excellent communication skills in English, both orally and written. Other languages especially German are advantageous Previous Compliance, public law or corporate work experience in a law firm, inhouse with a bank, a utility, with a regulator or in another assurance function is an asset
