We are looking to appoint an experienced Events and Employer Engagement Officer to join our Skills Team, which is based within the Children and Education Directorate.


You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and with partners across the city to develop a network of inclusive employers who are ambitious about employment for all.


Drawing on your excellent communicaton and organisational skills, you will be able to plan, manage and deliver engaging presentations and events for a range of stakeholders including employers, careers leaders, young people and parents/carers.


Through effective employer engagement you will support businesses to recognise how a more inclusive workforce will support their ambitions and you will help them to create opportunities for young people with SEND or who are care experienced.

You will be proactive in identifying and contacting local employers, demonstrating resilience and innovation to overcome challenges.


We are looking for someone who can champion local pathways to employment for vulnerable young people, with detailed knowledge of either Supported Internships or Apprenticeships.

Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.


As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
