CDM Health & Safety Advisor within the House Building Sector. Based in North Yorkshire
Reporting to the Construction Services Manager.
Responsible for all matters associated with the H&S requirements of DM Health and Safety Services connected with the successful safe discharge for all activities noted below but not limited to:

- Matters of company safety policy including inspection, audit and review of Health and Safety Management system as a whole.
- Application of H & S rational directly within a varied number of construction related processes (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Structural and electrical engineering).
- Development of benchmark construction H & S practices using the framework (ACOP) of the Construction Design and Management regulations 200
- Ensuring that Operational Process Plant policies are being applied and followed within this sector of the business
- Development of Health and Safety policy documentation for existing activities plus provision for new acquisitions or processes.
- Promoting a positive Health and Safety culture through assisting site managers and staff to ensure that an effective health and safety policy is implemented along with Clients personnel.
- Health & Safety planning by goal setting, deciding priorities and establishing adequate systems / performance standards.
- Assembly of data regarding the reporting of Injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences as stipulated in (RIDDOR 1995) and assuming the primary reference point for insurers and enforcement inspectorates.
- Ensuring the transition of new legislative requirements into standard company practices.
- Undertaking Audits and Inspections of all sites and premises with issued reports in order to identify corrective actions and ensure continual improvement of standards.
Qualifications, experience and training
Knowledge of the operational requirements of site based engineering disciplines.
Ensuring the suitability of working practices for all site personnel in order to comply with the statutory provisions as required by the Health and Safety at Work act 1974 and associated regulations.
Experience of risk analysis and hazard identification along with accredited educational knowledge of Legal Health and Safety issues that surround construction, engineering and general work activities.
The Role
Please note that the NE region encompasses multiple sites predominantly focused around the Newcastle area
You will be required to visit each of your, approximately 15 sites, twice each month to conduct Site Inspections and Site Support Visits respectively.
Targeted monthly checks
Additional technical H&S support to site management teams
Attendance at monthly meetings as required
Support regional H&S advisor as required
Finding practical solutions to issues that arise on site
Interaction with site management teams and relationship building
Incident and accident reporting
Client Checks
Carrying out in house training for business unit operatives and management teams. This will include ladder and harness, manual handling, scaffold and crane. The training sessions may be outside of the NE region
You will Have
Construction / House Building experience
5 years' experience in a similar role but this is negotiable
