Are you passionate about working with young people and making a positive impact on their lives? Do you have experience in coaching and mentoring? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Skill Coach at our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), supporting the Primary and Secondary departments.

The PRU is a unique educational setting that caters to students who may have experienced challenges in mainstream schools and require additional support.

As a Skill Coach, you will play a vital role in helping these students develop their skills, abilities, and confidence, and supporting their educational and personal growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering oneonone and group coaching sessions to students in the Primary and Secondary departments of the PRU.
  • Developing and implementing personalized coaching plans for each student, focusing on their specific needs and goals.
  • Providing support and guidance to students in developing their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other school staff to create a holistic and supportive learning environment for students.
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, and providing regular feedback to students, parents, and staff.
  • Planning and delivering workshops and activities to promote skills development in areas such as communication, problemsolving, emotional regulation, and resilience.
  • Promoting positive relationships and fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion among students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in coaching or mentoring young people, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of the challenges and needs of students in a Pupil Referral Unit or alternative provision setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of different coaching techniques and strategies to support skill development in areas such as communication, emotional regulation, problemsolving, and resilience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to adapt coaching plans to suit individual student needs.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours and support students with complex needs in a calm and empathetic manner.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
