Job Purpose:

To help improve achievement and progress in maths and English by supporting students in a hub environment. To support students with the development of Maths/English skills in a hub environment. Offer 1:1 support with specific skills, set work, monitor progress on VLE/Learning software.

Salary Scale 5 SCP £24,856 - £27,135 (pro-rata this is a
term time only role, 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. support students with the development of Maths/English skills in a hub environment.


  • Offer 1:1 support with specific skills, set work, monitor progress on VLE/Learning software.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and actively solve problems that may arise when working
  • Support the Curriculum managers and teachers to monitor work where a teacher is temporarily unavailable.
  • Possess a range of strategies to support ME on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Adapt support methods to suit specific learning difficulties or learning needs in line with any EHCP plans or other guidance
  • Use Pro-Monitor to check for students ME targets, and comment on progress towards these.
  • Work with managers, teachers and learners to identify an appropriate time for learners to develop their English and Maths
skills in the hub


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete initial and diagnostic testing as directed by Curriculum managers for Functional skills/GCSE English/GCSE Maths
  • Maintain the hubs opening times, keeping the room tidy and safe.
  • Be responsible for keeping the hub resourced, with displayed maintained.
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with the College's Health and Safety, Safeguarding & Equality & Diversity policies and procedures, practices and procedures
  • To carry out any other duties as directed by your Line Manager.
