Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler Rail, Switzerland.

Stadler is establishing a reputation as a competitive provider of train maintenance services and has seen a number of successes since emerging in the UK in 2016.

In the next few years over 200 new Stadler trains will be joining the UK rail network.

Our current depot locations are Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle and Norwich offering a wide scope of opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the UK Rail Industry.

We are looking to recruit an IT Assistant to support our central IT Team.

Reporting to the UK IT Manager, the role will work closely with a variety of departments to ensure optimum IT efficiency while helping to improve current systems and processes.

As a centralised function, this role will support all of our UK locations.

You will therefore be required to travel as needed to support both existing contracts and the mobilisation of new projects.

Applicants will need to demonstrate strong skills in communication, adaptability and prioritisation.


Your duties will include:

  • Providing first line IT support and advice across all SRSUK locations
  • Logging calls on IT Ticket System and manage to satisfactory conclusion
  • Deploying PC's and associated peripherals including new installations and redeployment of existing equipment.
  • Maintaining the existing PC's and peripherals to agree standards, by performing upgrades, new installations and carrying out routine procedures.
  • Recording and maintaining an inventory of all hardware, software licenses, and keep a register of borrowed IT equipment
  • Managing on site Engineer calls
  • Redirecting/escalating support requests to other members of ICT where solutions are not easily achieved
  • Prioritising and managing many open cases at one time across SRSUK locations
  • Testing, updating & decommissioning equipment
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices
  • Working closely with team members to update work instructions and improve processes
  • Building, maintaining and managing company mobile phones
  • Supporting the UK IT Manager with ongoing project work, participating in meetings and putting forward ideas and solutions.
  • Working independently to provide IT support to existing SRUSK locations
  • Representing the IT Function in the mobilisation of new SRSUK projects and working unsupervised to deliver on project tasks as directed by UK IT Manager
  • Assisting in the daytoday running of IT Department as directed by UK IT Manager
  • Producing monthly IT reports in line with SRSUK and Group IT requirements
  • Resolvingissues with a friendly, cooperative approach to all departments.

Your Profile

Essential

  • Good IT administration and organisational skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong customer service ethos
  • Experience with MS Windows 10
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • GCSE English and Maths 'C Grade' and above or equivalent
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • IT related qualification is desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience using help desk software and remote support tools
  • German language skills would be beneficial
