We are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable Senior Kitchen Assistant to assist the Chef to join our team here at Bridge, Burton and Trent Court nursing home located in DE15
We are looking for someone who has a positive, patient and flexible attitude along with excellent kitchen skills and a passion for engaging with working age or older adults with dementia and associated conditions.
You will be required to prepare and serve meals that meet individual needs, ensuring that you always maintain and respect their dignity.
Ensuring the general day to day activities of the kitchen and dining room are efficient and meet all regulatory and statutory requirements.
You will also be required to manage and supervise the Kitchen assistants ensuring rotas and annual leave competency levels are maintained.
Key responsibilities:
- Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
- Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes.
- Assisting the Cook with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meat.
- Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
- Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies.
- Organizing and correctly storing food supplies.
- Promptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the Cook's instructions.
- Stirring and heating soups and sauces as well as preparing hot beverages.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS Required:
- NVQ Level
- Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate
- Good communication skills
- Team player
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)
Desired:
- Ability to plan menus with the people who live at Towerview
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience of Food Preparation of Apetito and health specific meals i.e. soft, fortified, gluten free and other potential needs.
It is an expectation of all staff to have vaccines or other essential health treatments, in line with Public Health guidelines and in relation to health and safety in an effort to protect yourself as well as others.

Salary:
£10.50 per hour

- Day shift on a rota basis which also includes weekends and bank holidays
