About the post

We provide IDVA services in Haringey and Hackney where specialist IDVAs support women who have been identified by the MARAC as being at high risk of serious domestic violence and homicide.

The services are double accredited holding SafeLives Leading Light status and the Advice Quality Standard for casework with women.

In the role of IDVA 55+ you will be responsible for providing pro-active service to women aged 55 years and over who have been assessed at being at risk of domestic violence (intimate partner and/or familial) to improve safety and reduce re-victimisation.

You will conduct detailed risk assessments and develop appropriate individual safety and support plans with women, providing information and advocacy support to women to make informed decisions on issues such as housing, welfare, education, health, welfare benefits, counselling, legal rights (criminal and civil) and child protection.

You will provide a service that is sensitive to the needs of women who face additional obstacles to reporting/accessing services as a result of their age, including women with mental health issues, learning disabilities, from Black, Asian, minority ethnic and refugee communities, and women who are disabled, chronically ill and/or otherwise vulnerable and/or intimidated.

The post is currently funded until March 2025, with the potential to be extended.
