Description

Behaviour and Welfare Officer

About the position

Our Behaviour and Welfare Officers play a key role in the organisation, taking dogs through their initial assessment and designing and implementing their training programmes right through to carrying out adoption meets and providing post adoption support.

This is a very practical hands on role, with extensive involvement in the handling of dogs on a day to day basis but will also involve some office work to maintain animal records and contact adopters.

The Behaviour and Welfare Officer team are also responsible for covering the stray dog out of hour provision on a rota basis, this means a shift pattern of 1.30pm until 10pm, three days out of 14.

This is a full time, permanent position and standard hours are 40 hours per week on a locally determined rota Tuesday - Saturday.

The role is based at our rescue centre in Llanharan.

About us

Hope Rescue is a leading dog welfare charity that saves the lives of strays, abandoned and unwanted dogs in South Wales.

Since 2005, our team has given a second chance to thousands of dogs that need a new start, from our dedicated facilities in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

We help the most vulnerable dogs in our local communities, working closely with Local Authorities across South Wales to support them with their stray dogs and dogs seized from low welfare of illegal breeders.

We also provide valuable support to pet owners in crisis who need to rehome their pets.

Hope Rescue actively campaigns for improvements to animal welfare legislation and enforcement and provides support and advice to the public on responsible dog ownership.
