We are looking for a Food Technologist who will work as an NSF integrated team member at the Whitbread head office, based in Dunstable.

In this role you will act as a technical guardian of the Whitbread Premier Inn and Restaurant brand integrity, which includes ensuring that supplier, product, and customer data is accurate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Including, but not limited to:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders in both the technical and cross functional team you are part of to provide technical advice and support
  • Ensure new products and product improvements are compliant to Whitbread guidelines and policies by reviewing technical data submitted
  • Support the active maintenance and accurate product specifications to the required standard and ensuring all relevant policies, provenance and quality is agreed
  • Ensure compliance with Whitbread's Force for Good Strategy including technical involvement with audits
  • Ensure Accurate Technical management of nutritional and allergy data for guests. allergy, nutritional and lifestyle data for guests
  • Review of food and drink menus ensuring all copy is legal and accurate for the relevant country
  • Support the development and implementation of Whitbread NSF guidelines and standards
  • Support complaints and incident management related to food safety, legality and quality including investigation and follow up of actions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or equivalent in Food Science / Food Technology
  • HACCP qualification (desirable)
  • A passion for food and product quality
  • Experience of working with product specifications/samples
  • Experience of using online specification databases
  • Knowledge of food regulations (desired)
  • A good knowledge of food labelling legislation with experience of developing, reviewing, authorising menu and/or retail pack label copy and specifications
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a high level of numeracy, good negotiation skills. Be able to work alone and as part of a team, and be able to liaise with customers, colleagues and suppliers at a number of levels.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience of working in a food business technical or development department handling specifications and supporting development.
  • Project Management skills including management of stakeholders to meet deadlines
  • Used to working in a matrix organisation with high levels of collaboration (desirable)
  • Travel to suppliers maybe required on occasion
  • Ability to be onsite 3 days per week at Whitbread Head Office (Dunstable)
  • Travel is required to sites that are accessible by car, so a driving license and car is required
