This role will involve working from home combined with time in our Guildford office one or two days per week.

Role Purpose


The purpose of the role is to govern and to ensure that new software or hardware releases are properly installed and do not cause disruptions to business operations.

The role governs, plans, organises and manages the outsourced operation of the organisation's IT workplace services.

This will entail (in conjunction with suppliers) developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimising the Workplace Environment including associated hardware, software and tools.


The role supports the collaboration between the IT function, Allianz business functions and design - balancing the needs of the business and technical viability.


The Workplace Environment and Release Lead reports into the Head of Workplace, supporting the optimal operational governance of outsourced management of Allianz's IT workplace.


In this capacity, the role holder will collaborate with third party suppliers responsible for the delivery of workplace releases (software or hardware) to ensure services remain stable, secure and meet the needs of the Business.


This role works closely alongside colleagues in IT infrastructure to ensure that solutions are aligned to deliver an efficient and functional end user experience.


The key aspects of the role are highlighted below:

  • Ensure that the UK Workplace technology environment is kept current and aligned with strategic standards, with a focus on removing end of life legacy technology.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors and project managers to delivery seamless upgrades and new service offerings into production for Allianz UK
  • Identify, close and escalate risks in the Workplace Technology environment.
  • Liaise with Allianz UK business partners for Workplace releases around operating system, software and hardware.
  • Liaise with Allianz UK business partners to ensure benefits realisation for Workplace rollouts.
  • Act in a project manager capacity for smaller BAU initiatives and new service offerings to Allianz UK from Central Technology teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and audit mandates for Workplace Technology upgrades and new services.
  • Scoping and requirements gathering as part of preproject activities for UK Workplace Technology new releases.
  • Establish and maintain relationships across the business and with technology partners.
  • Creation of Communications for Workplace upgrades, new features and releases
  • Assist in the organisation of business testers as required

Service Transition

  • Input to the design and implement short
- and long-term strategic plans to ensure workplace strategy meets existing and future requirements.

  • Participate in the development of an IT roadmap in collaboration with the IT Infrastructure team
  • Ensure that no change goes into production that would negatively impact the Workplace environment
