Lead Mechanical Engineer

6 Month contract (Initial)

Hybrid working

We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile utilities clients. They are currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join them for an initial 6 month contract.


Main Purpose:

To act as a lead in a technical role, supporting junior multi-disciplinary Engineers. You will take initial designs through the entire concept, detailed design and installation phases.


Key Accountabilites:


  • Lead the mechanical design of projects including LTHW, steam, gas, CHW, ventilation and exhaust systems
  • Preparation of P&ID drawings
  • Preparation of lists of materials for a project
  • Assessing various aspects of installation including location and access.
  • Utilizing industry standard software such as Autodesk Plant 3D, AutoCAD, EPlan, Office etc
  • Writing equipment specifications and obtaining quotations
  • Producing control philosophies and completing project specific safety assessments
  • Liaise with project delivery team including all disciplines
  • Ensure procedures are adhered to and projects are delivered on time to the highest quality and safety
  • Visiting sites during the initial design and detailed design phases of a project including presenting to Customers
  • Assisting with the development of other Engineers
  • Standing in for the Engineering Manager as requested

Work Experience & Technical Skills:


  • Can demonstrate previous experience at a senior level of building services related engineering and design
  • Scopes of work up to £15M

  • Commercial Acumen e.g. ability to balance design, customer and commercial outcomes to decisions and coaches others to build capability in the function
  • Demonstrates commitment to CPD, external networking and is a thought leader
  • Able to perform technically at Principal Engineer level
  • Strong technical skills in energy efficient systems with direct experience of delivering energy saving projects
  • Boiler house / plantroom and/or district heat design experience preferred
  • A proven track record on technically leading the design of projects and delivering to agreed deadlines
  • Ability to articulate complex solutions to nontechnical people

Location:


This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to work from the clients Salford office as and when required.

Along with on site visits in accordance to the project.


Working hours:

Standard working hours with some flex where required.
