The Data Value Management Practice covers Data Strategy, Governance, Quality and Metadata Management, and is part of UK Enterprise Data Management (EDM) that specialises in Cloud data solutions for EXL clients and is a core element of the UK Analytics business.

This role is an opportunity to assist and support the growth of this practice, within a fast growing and market leading organisation.

The Metadata Management Consultant is the SME on metadata management toolsets (e.g.

Collibra, Informatica Suite, Erwin DI, Alation, Ataccama to name a few) and is responsible for supporting the sales of toolset implementations, advising clients on the need, use and maintenance of metadata tools, bringing use of toolsets to life through demonstrations, supporting Data Governance projects in the area of metadata tool selection / implementation / population and managing / liaising with EXL implementation / support teams provisioning Metadata as a Service (MaaS) to clients acting as a bridge between client and our offshore team.


Skills and experience we consider to be essential for the role:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across client, onshore and offshore teams

Implementation experience across a
minimum of two different toolsets (ideally including one of Informatica AXON/EDC/IDQ and / or Cloud product, Erwin DI, Alation, Collibra, Ataccama)
from initial installation and configuration, through population of business and technical metadata and its curation within the toolset, to search capability / report development, ongoing metadata maintenance and workflow:

  • Ability to engage and bring to life metadata to clients and EXL project teams and assist in providing vision and insight to clients on the use and benefits of managed metadata
  • Experience in toolset selection based upon developed user stories / use cases
  • Must be capable of operating with a degree of autonomy in a fastgrowing environment.
  • Selfstarter, with strong organisational skills, in a highpressured team and environment, capable of hitting the ground running

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

  • The consultant will be the SME to the Data Governance and Quality Management team on metadata management and provide input through the full lifecycle from sales to BAU handover.
  • The consultant will have the opportunity to shape and develop the MaaS offering, working with our India teams and the US Practice maintaining the Data Governance lab of metadata toolsets.

Services

  • Enhance and maintain the MaaS offering to clients, working with the US Governance Practice Lab team and India based Service Delivery management and teams.
  • Support and work with US Governance Practice Lab team in extending the Lab of Metadata Toolsets and use of the Lab for demonstration and potential client support.
  • Own, enhance and maintain sales collateral for MaaS, including demonstrations using DG Lab.
  • Develop, own and maintain metadata design and implementation plans into a BAU MaaS environment, that fit within Data Governance / DQM design and implementation plans
  • Working with India Offshore management / teams, develop, own and maintain a metadata playbook, working with UK Practice to develop and maintain collateral, as part of wider DG Playbook, for use with client engagements
  • Where necessary, develop relationships with tool vendors through existing Partner alliances.

Project Delivery

  • Play an advisory role with clients to understand their needs, and use cases, educate on the value and benefits, the implementation roadmap and impact.
  • Be part of the consultancy team undertaking Data Strategy and Governance assessments, capture interview outputs, undertake structured analysis, identify use cases and solutions to support, develop recommendations in respect of metadata management.

  • Extraction of Metadata requirements
  • Target Operating Models for metadata
