Product Owner - Market Wide Half Hourly Settlement


We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and hands-on Product Owner to lead the scope, definition and direction of our exciting, yet challenging, Market Wide Half Hourly Settlement (MHHS) delivery.

MHHS is an Ofgem mandate industry wide change to facilitate decarbonisation and the development of a smarter, more flexible energy sector.

Building on the continued roll out of smart meters where half hourly consumption data can be captured, presenting electricity suppliers the true cost of supplying customers for every half hour will be key enabler for incentivising customers to shift demand from peak periods through time of use tariffs and other propositions and provides the opportunity for customers to reduce their bill.

You'll have the opportunity to help lead, develop and coach our team to really unlock value and potential from our people.


You'll need a strong understanding of the electricity market and industry processes and procedures and how technology can be leveraged to enable E.ON Next to deliver to the obligations and requirements set out by the MHHS industry programme.

You will need to work in partnership with the technology, business, regulatory operational teams as well as engage with third party vendors and wider industry partners.


This is a highly challenging yet highly rewarding role in steering and shaping how E.ON Next maximises the opportunity from a faster, more accurate settlement process for all our electricity customers.


Responsibilities:


  • Build an expert understanding of MHHS, its requirements on E.ON Next as a supply business and how we can deliver an effective technology solution to the opportunities and challenges MHHS presents. Working with the MHHS team to translate programme requirements into easy to understand features that are delivered in partnership with the delivery teams
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Analysts and associated teams in E.ON Next and technology partners to support product vision and strategy for MHHS while understanding intimate details to derive value.
  • Undertake discovery to identify key problems where product solutions would unlock customer value.
  • Answering the "why" and setting well defined, clear and articulate requirements for our technology partners. Strong focus on pragmatic prioritisation based on business strategy and value outcomes.
  • Ability to operate in a multistakeholder environment, with regulatory scrutiny
  • Engagement with the MHHS industry programme to shape and influence both intent and delivery outcomes
  • Working with Product Delivery Management to support identification of risks and issues through the delivery life cycle; design, build and test, run and migration.
  • Refine, setup and support the launch of new technology, including 3rd party software
  • Engaging and influencing key stakeholders, including at an Executive level, to align on strategy and approach as well as affecting outcome and decision making.
  • Build a strong network across our business to make things happen.


Qualifications and Experience- Strong tech and energy experience- Electricity market experience across an energy supplier's switching, registrations, billing and settlement processes.- Experience in metering, including knowledge of smart metering systems- Knowledge and understanding of Electricity Balancing & Settlement, including flows and market design.- Experience of participating in cross-industry change programmes, preferably the MHHS or Faster Switching Programmes (Desirable)- Experience working with 3rd parties and electricity industry bodies.- Ability to innovate and find new solutions (not just tech)- High degree of resilience, working in a fast paced agile environment.
