Description

Accountable for leadership and management of in-house workshops to ensure safety, legal compliance and quality standards are achieved along with excellent customer service and delivery of efficiency and financial targets.


Development of the workshop teams to ensure the required skills and capacity are in place to match the business growth plans is a key responsibility of the role.


In addition to the in-house workshops, the role will also be required to audit third party workshops and ensure the required standards of safety, legal compliance and quality are being achieved.


As a member of the Fleet function senior management team, you will work with our fleet engineers to ensure that fleet standards of maintenance continue to meet changes in legislation and best practice.


The primary customers are owned and customer fleet, but the role is also responsible for growth outside the primary customer base.

The role demands a result driven individual with an entrepreneurial spirit.

You will need to quickly and continually have a clear vision for delivery of the objectives and an ability to communicate that with your teams and implement consistently across the business.


Provide strong management and leadership with effective coaching and mentoring to create a highly motivated and results driven workforce with a commitment to delivering objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Safety

  • Overall responsibility for Health and Safety, Quality, and compliance activity within the Fleet remit internal and external workshops and service providers.
  • Setting the highest level of safety standards within the function and ensuring they are reached and maintained.
Compliance

  • Actively measure and provide leadership to ensure all aspects of Operator License commitments are maintained
  • Lead the development and implementation of a bestinclass fleet maintenance system.
  • Ensuring OCRS scores are maintained at the current high levels, whilst optimising maintenance spend value (the two are not exclusive).
Customer Service

  • Ensure internal and external customer relationships are managed within the Service Level Agreements and evidenced through relevant KPIs which include uptime, repair times, first time repair and cost.
  • Building excellent relationships with existing customers, maximizing business opportunities in support of the overall growth strategy.
  • Ensure maintenance record keeping is accurate, descriptive and can be invoiced based on the technician's records.
Efficiency & Finance

  • Ensure fleet maintenance work is completed efficiently and cost effectively. This includes compliance with standard job times and parts and technician productivity targets.
  • Full P&L accountability for all inhouse workshops and ensuring demonstrable value of contract and noncontract third party workshops.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to continually improve fleet value measured in robust financial terms.
  • Drive delivery of financial targets through effective leadership, robust processes, and business growth
  • Making significant decisions impacting on costs and service to generate value for and customers to drive short, mid
- and long-term profitability

  • Actively support the Commercial interests of the Company by working in partnership with the wider Fleet Team, Divisional Directors, and Operations Management.
Leadership

  • Support Management Staff within the fleet function in their development, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Training, motivating, and developing all members of team.
  • Leading people engagement at all levels of the Workshop function by effectively using P4P Process and objective setting to achieve clear goals that drive results and career development.
  • Attending the Employee Forum Meetings as well Safety Meeting to raise engagement with all levels of the Fleet team.
Education & Skills

Experience

  • Track record of success in a senior fleet managerial role with specific workshop management experience.
  • Commercial vehicle fleet legal compliance, ideally with experience of road tankers and hazardous products.
  • Excellent track record in developing and managing effective multiple customer relationships
- both internally and externally

  • Previous, demonstrable experience in Profit and Loss Management, in a highly Commercial Environment.
  • Experience in leading and implementing effective performance improvement activities and initiatives
  • Experienced in planning and implementing change and in winning support from team and peer group

Skills:


  • At least 5 years logistics/supply chain knowledge
  • Exceptional levels of drive and enthusiasm
