An exciting opportunity has arisen within Buckinghamshire's Adoption service for an
Agency Adoption Advisor.


Please note that this is a part time opportunity for 22.5 hours a week and the displayed salary will be pro-rata'd as such.

About the role:


The main responsibilities of this exciting role are:

  • Providing advice to the Agency Decision Maker when considering whether children should be placed for adoption and acting as Adoption Panel Advisor.
  • To provide advice to social workers and managers in relation to adoption and permanence in order to promote informed and child centred planning for children being placed for adoption, their birth family, and prospective adopters.
  • To contribute to the development and review of robust policies and practice in relation to adoption and permanence which promote and maintain the safety, welfare and best outcomes for children and young people for whom adoption is the plan.

About you:


We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 5 years direct experience of adoption and has acted in a managerial/supervisory capacity.


The successful applicant will also:

  • Have a recognised Social Work qualification
  • Be an excellent communicator with effective influencing, advocating and negotiating skills
  • Poses the ability to deal with complex practice and legal issues relating to adoption and permanence work
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of written communication (ability to write reports)
  • Have experience in the recruitment and training of prospective adoptive parents
  • Knowledge of current research and reports concerning adoption and permanence issues
