    Description

    Governance, Risk & Compliance Associate

    £65,000 – £70,000 + bonus + benefits | Hybrid (Home-based with travel to Manchester & London)

An ambitious and fast-growing specialist investment, business services, and insurance group is seeking a Governance, Risk & Compliance Associate to join its growing function. The company delivers innovative funding and risk solutions across legal finance, business services, and specialist insurance markets. This hybrid role allows flexibility to work from home, with collaboration across offices in Manchester and London. It offers the opportunity to be part of an organisation at an exciting phase of expansion, where your input will directly shape the governance and risk infrastructure of a forward-thinking business.

    The Opportunity

Reporting to senior management, you will be central to developing, embedding, and maintaining governance and risk frameworks across the group. You'll play a hands-on role in enhancing operational governance, supporting board and committee structures, and ensuring that the organisation maintains compliance with regulatory standards and industry good practice.

The role is highly project-based, requiring strong organisational capability, initiative, and attention to detail. It will suit someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and enjoys managing multiple priorities while contributing to strategic transformation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate internal audits, risk reviews, and compliance checks to ensure group entities meet internal and external standards.
    • Lead or support key governance and risk projects, ensuring deadlines are met and outcomes align with business objectives.
    • Provide regular insight and recommendations to senior management, highlighting emerging risks, control improvements, and regulatory changes.
    • Collaborate with subsidiary CEOs, department heads, and functional leads to ensure risk and compliance responsibilities are understood and fully embedded
    • Manage and coordinate the governance calendar, including scheduling, preparing agendas, collating and circulating board and committee packs, and ensuring timely follow-up of actions and decisions.
    • Take ownership of governance documentation including terms of reference, policies, and attestation records across group entities.
    • Assist with the preparation of governance reports for senior leadership and board committees, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and accountability.
    • Support the evolution of governance practices in preparation for future public reporting requirements
    • Maintain, enhance and embed the group's risk management framework, ensuring consistent methodologies across the investment and insurance operations.
    • Support the identification, assessment, and monitoring of key risks including operational, financial, and regulatory exposures.
    • Contribute to the design of policies and controls that strengthen the organisation's compliance posture, with emphasis on data protection, financial reporting integrity, and risk assurance.
    • Oversee GDPR and data protection compliance as the designated contact for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Support training initiatives for key executives and staff to maintain awareness of governance, compliance, and risk obligations.

    About You

    • Experience in governance, risk management, or compliance—ideally within financial services, legal funding, or insurance sectors.
    • A strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks and sound familiarity with regulatory and data protection requirements.
    • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with a methodical and proactive approach.
    • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with executives and stakeholders at all levels.
    • Experience producing reports and documentation for senior audiences and demonstrating sound judgment in sensitive matters.
    • Professional qualifications such as CGI, ICA, IRM, or a finance/legal accreditation (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CPA) are advantageous.
    • Naturally analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.

    Why Join

    • Be a key contributor in shaping governance and risk capability within a high-growth specialist company.
    • Work alongside a senior team with significant industry and investment expertise.
    • Hybrid, flexible working model with regular collaboration in Manchester and London.
    • Competitive compensation: £65,000 – £70,000 plus bonus and benefits.
    • Project diversity that offers broad exposure and professional growth opportunities.

If you're proactive, detail-driven, and motivated by impactful project work within a progressive business environment, this role offers a unique chance to advance your risk, governance and compliance career at a pivotal point of growth.

Work sponsorship will not be provided at any time
