About The Role

The Telegraph are looking for a highly creative Motion Designer to help develop our visual language across digital and video.

Be part of a design team where experimentation and learning are encouraged, at a pivotal moment in the development of how we tell stories digitally and across our platforms and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating visual responses to stories in an innovative and highly creative manner
  • Using your skills to elevate and convey our journalism to the highest standard
  • Providing visual guidance and support to producers, editors and journalists to ensure visual excellence across all we do
  • Working to fastpaced deadlines on digital initiatives
  • Collaborating with graphic designers, product designers, video editors, editors and journalists to build narratives using animation and moving image
  • Working closely with designers to bring stories to life in highly visual ways
  • Working with the Creative Director and Deputy Creative Director to develop a leading industry approach to how we use motion graphics in the service of our award winning journalism
  • Developing our visual language through the use of motion and how it applies to our branding and identity within our products
  • Using animation to introduce moments of delight and intrigue to our digital audiences across our experiences, marketing and social media
Key Skills

  • Have an active set of animation skills and an understanding of fundamental animation principles, and be fiercely creative with them
  • Have a mastery of Adobe After Effects and Premiere, including a proven ability to use expressions and construct and design motion templates for Adobe Premiere
  • Have proficiency in translating designs from Figma, Illustrator, and Photoshop into animated visuals in After Effects
  • Thrive in a fast paced environment, with the ability to multitask across multiple news desks and teams
  • Have exceptional organisational skills with the ability to keep project files tidy and orderly for other designers
  • Be interested in current affairs and have a passion for telling stories
  • Be energetic, have an appetite for experimentation and a good sense of fun
  • Have an open minded and receptive approach to innovating and iterating your designs
