About us:

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management.

Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence.

As a trusted voice for many of the world's most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About Energy Systems
We help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future. We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital.

We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

About the role:

Do you enjoy solving real-life problems and learning from industry leading experts? Do you want to work on a variety of projects that touch all aspects of the energy transition?
Here at DNV, what we do matters.

Whether it's helping the Energy Industry transition to a more decarbonised and sustainable future or helping safeguard life, property and the environment, every day, what you do will make a difference.

This is our shared purpose and one our people are proud to be part of.

Our highly respected Risk Advisory department in the UK and Ireland is primarily responsible for delivery of consultancy and risk management services.

Our team provides high quality services and best practice in risk identification, assessment and mitigation and assist our customers in risk-based decision support.

This approach is highly valued in Oil & Gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), the evolving hydrogen sector and in allied areas of Energy transition (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), renewables).

Our Opportunity:

We have a number of Graduate Consultant opportunities across our London, Stockport and Loughborough offices.

In particular, Technical Safety Consultant roles based in any of the above offices and a specific Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Consultant role based in London.

As a Graduate Consultant, you'll join our growing team of experts who love finding innovative solutions to the Energy industry's most challenging problems.

You'll be given real responsibility from day one, collaborating with forward-thinking customers and technical experts across our business, helping deliver career and industry-defining projects.

You will be given the time to build your network, the resources to support your development, and the freedom to satisfy your curiosity and desire to learn.

Whichever of our key hubs you join (
Loughborough,
Stockport or
London), your development opportunities are the same. including;

  • Learning how major hazards, their likelihood and consequences are managed; understanding the importance of reliability of safeguards; and how to make balanced riskbased arguments for safe operations
  • The opportunity to actively engage with clients to understand their challenges as they seek to make the Energy industry safer and more sustainable, with a special focus on energy transition challenges
  • Absorb information from experts in daily interactions to understand the industry, the terminology and how different maths, physics and engineering disciplines contribute to safety

The main difference between our roles, apart from location, is that our CFD role focuses on advanced computational simulations, specifically the 3D modelling of a broad range of hazardous scenarios like gas dispersion, fires and explosions.

Additionally, in Loughborough, for those of you with a specific interest in mathematical and physical modelling, there will also be opportunity to develop the models, tools and software that we use in the industry, keeping us at the cutting edge of the energy transition.

This will be supported by industry experts, with training in programming and experimental analysis.

You'll be stretched but always supported, so don't worry if the Energy industry or terminology above is unfamiliar to you, we will teach you all you need to know.

Upon joining, you'll receive a buddy to help you settle in, a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge, as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues.

Our structured Graduate Programme therefore provides a fantastic start to your career, enhancing both your technical and professional skills and supporting your journey towards chartership and becoming an expert in your chosen field.
