The Position:


Oberon Investment group requires a dedicated book keeper to assist the finance department in day-to-day bookkeeping tasks across the group companies.

You will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation


Duties/Areas of Responsibility:


  • Perform daytoday bookkeeping tasks for clients, including but not limited to, recording financial transactions, maintaining accurate ledgers, and reconciling accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial information and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Provide support during audits and tax preparation.
  • Stay uptodate with industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.
  • Act in accordance with Consumer Duty Rules (in particular but not limited to Consumer Principle 12, Four Outcomes and Cross-Cutting Rules) which sets higher and clearer standards of consumer protection across financial services and require you and the company to act to deliver good outcomes for customers.
  • You must adhere to The Conduct Rules which outline the minimum standards of individual behaviour in financial services.
  • To demonstrate commitment to proactively deliver good outcomes for customers and put customers' interests at the heart of business activities.
  • Maintain the overall standard the FCA expects firms to adhere to.
  • Abide by the FCA Individual Conduct rules.
  • Complete any training assigned by the company
  • Complete any professional qualifications which are a requirement for your role

Essential Skills & Behaviours:


  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/AAT) and/or possess professional office experience.
  • Proficient in relevant accounting software (Sage, Iris)
  • Ideally with a background in financial services and financial advice (e.g. previously worked in a Financial Advice or Investment Management business).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
  • A genuine interest in the investment industry
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • An aptitude for working across various IT systems including MS Office
  • Open and transparent with excellent communication skills
  • Operates with integrity and behaves honestly
  • Proactive individual who can work on their own initiative
  • Effective organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Sets high standards for themselves and strives to excel
  • Strong collaborative nature and a team player
  • Follow and adhere to all policies and procedures in force at Oberon Investment Management
  • Act to deliver good outcomes for the Retail clients
  • Help Oberon meet its Consumer Duty obligations by acting in good faith towards clients and enabling clients to pursue their financial objectives.
  • Identify and escalate risks that may result in harm for the clients

Skills/Experience/Qualifications:


  • Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/AAT)
  • 5 years bookkeeping experience

This role reports to the Finance Controller


Location:

This role is based in Mayfair, London.

There may be some travel required to Sittingbourne and there will be opportunity to Work from home one day a week.


Salary:
£22,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
