Description
Complex Care Support Worker for an 11 Year Old Girl


Area:
Swinton


Salary:
£16 Weekday, £17 Weekend.


Responsible to:
Case Manager and Parent


Purpose of the job:


To ensure the client's needs are fully met in line with the care plan, & requirements of the client's family.

To cover working hours for other team members holidays and sick leave as necessary

This will involve the following areas:

  • To work in partnership with parents, colleagues and other professionals working with the client and their family, ensuring physical, emotional, social, spiritual, religious, cultural and therapeutic needs are met.
  • To work as part of a care team demonstrating understanding and an active part of the team to ensure all the client's needs are met.
  • To ensure respect is demonstrated with all family members, at all times, whilst working in the family home and out in the community.

Personal care

Intimate care

Aspects of daily living

Preparations of food

Administering medication - this will only be appropriate once medication training has been completed and with permission of parents.

Transfers due to mobility issues

Communication

Therapy programmes

Leisure activities

Social activities including using community resources

Transportation and escort

Family, social and leisure activities

Supporting on family holidays

Driving the client's vehicle

  • To ensure the client has a right to privacy and dignity at all times.
  • To work within professional boundaries.
  • To develop caring and professional trusting relationships.
  • To ensure that you respect the client's property and keep your professional working space clean and tidy at all times.
  • Work in accordance with Safeguarding & Child Protection Legislation
  • To ensure any safeguarding concerns are brought to the attention of the Designated Safeguarding Officer/Case Manager.
  • To promote positive outcomes for the client in line with her life plan and aspirations
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times and use the appropriate information sharing protocol including GDPR legislation.
  • To develop, maintain and evaluate systems and structures to promote the rights and diversity of the client.
  • To promote and monitor health, safety and security whilst at work, either in the client's home or whilst out in the community
  • To work on any physiotherapy programmes under the supervision and guidance of the chartered physiotherapist.
  • To work on any occupational therapy programmes under the supervision and guidance of the chartered occupational therapist. To follow instructions of therapeutic needs of positioning and postural management.
  • To work on any speech, language and communication therapy programmes under the supervision and guidance of the chartered Speech and Language therapist.
  • To read and follow any risk assessments written for the client, the family and employees, or other staff commissioned to work with the client.
  • To complete and maintain administrative records as required by the Case Manager, or any other service in which you are working in partnership with.
  • To undertake the completion of records concerning the client to a standard that would be acceptable in court.
  • To attend any meetings as required concerning the client.
  • To ensure all records are kept up to date at all times to a standard acceptable by court.
  • To undertake induction and relevant training programmes as required in order for you to carry out your work.
  • To attend and participate in supervision, appraisal and any staff meetings as required by the Case Manager/parent
  • To maintain personal wellbeing within your job role and to bring to the attention any concerns that may affect the wellbeing of yourself or any other employee with whom you are working.
  • To undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
  • To drive the client's vehicle safely and responsibly.
  • To deal with and record petty cash transactions using the agreed format.
  • Support workers to work in hospital during any client admissions.
