**Specific


Responsibilities:


  • To maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs of children.
  • Working in line with the 1989 Children's Act, the 2004 Children's Act, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and other relevant legislation.
  • To plan. Manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day.
  • To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child's attendance in education is maintained.
  • To always maintain professional conduct and role model this to staff at the home.
  • To adhere to all policies and procedures, as well as risk assessments, at all times.
  • To make certain that all staff receive an adequate handover and debrief during each shift.
  • To review that relevant records are completed daily, and information is communicated to the management team in a timely manner.
  • To report any safeguarding or child protection concerns to the Registered Manager or on call immediately.
  • To supervise assigned individuals in line with the organisations policy.
  • To identify any development requirements for individuals you are responsible for supervising and discuss these with the homes management team.
  • To support in the induction of new staff to the home.
  • To raise any concerns regarding an individual member of staff's progress or attitude with the Registered Manager.
  • To provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment in which children can feel secure and be free from harm.
  • Establishing positive relationships with children and always offering them unconditional and positive regard.
  • Ensuring that each child's care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
  • Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home etc)
  • To review children's records with the key worker to ensure all relevant information is recorded and documents are completed to a high standard.
  • To provide a positive role model to be able to offer advice, guidance, and support where appropriate.
  • Being ambitious for children, helping them achieve their goals and optimise their potential
  • Keeping accurate records and providing written reports on children for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager
  • Empowering children and facilitating their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future
**To work as part of a team

  • Being aware of the aims and objectives of the home as set out in the Statement of Purpose and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve them
  • To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.
  • Attending team/ staff meetings and making a positive contribution to them
  • Actively contributing to the development of the team
  • Effectively communicating with colleagues, management and professionals working with the home
  • Being willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers
  • Being aware of relevant plans and risk assessments for all children and providing support for colleagues by maintaining consistency in the execution of those plans
  • Attending and contributing to regular supervision sessions in line with the organisations policy
  • Monitoring the conduct of colleagues and referring on any causes for concern (Whistleblowing)
  • Being familiar with all policies and procedures and ensuring all staff are adhering to them
**General Responsibilities

  • Supporting children to appointments, family time, education, activities and any other required journey.
  • Receiving training appropriate to the role and maintaining an uptodate training profile
  • Responsibility for the accurate maintenance of financial records appropriate to the duties of the post
  • Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the organisational Health and Safety Policies
