Our Operational Technology Support team maintain and repair the technology that automates and remotely monitors our pipes, pumps, reservoirs, and treatment works.

The team supports the biggest remote monitoring (telemetry) system in the UK water industry, and the 1000's of programmable control systems installed on our 5800 sites.

This work is crucial for us to ensure our plant remains running automatically and will communicate plant alarms to our main operational control room in the event of an issue on site.

Your role as an Operational Technology Apprentice:

You will train as a multi-disciplined field engineer in the repair, maintenance and installation of remote telemetry monitoring, industrial automation equipment and communication networks used on water and water recycling assets.


As a fully qualified Operational Technology Technician, you will be responsible maintaining and repairing the control and automation systems at our Water and Water Recycling sites.

Typical systems are Programmable Logic Controllers, Telemetry (Remote Monitoring & Alarm System) and Communications Equipment.

You will be required to report on failing/failed assets and diagnose more complex faults, utilising your training and deciding on and carrying out the most appropriate and cost-effective solution.

Upon being fully qualified, this role operates on a 24/7 standby basis, highlighting the vital nature of your contribution.


Your journey:
Embark on this 4-year adventure of training and learning, meeting new peers with other new apprentices.

You will spend 80% of your time at your work base, getting to know your new team with onsite training.

You will spend the other 20% of your time in the classroom learning fundamental skills to equip you with the knowledge needed to be successful in your role.

To be successful as an Anglian Water Apprentice you will require:5 GCSE's including Maths and English Grade A-C or 9-4 (if you have not completed your GCSE's we will accept predicted grades. We also accept Level 2 Functional Skills)

A desire to learn while working in a practical environment.

Knowledge of computer systems and interested in learning about automation and monitoring systems.

A passion for problem solving, practical, with a willingness to learn and self-motivated to succeed.

As well as the above, you will need a full UK driving licence.

If you do not currently have this, you are required to hold a full UK driving licence prior to the completion of year 4 of the training programme.

You will also need to live within the circumference of the area that the role will cover.

This position is deemed a safety critical role with safety being our number one priority. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening will be taken.
