Job summary:

In June 2019 the Government introduced legally binding net zero emissions target by % of the UK's energy consumption and carbon emissions arise from the way buildings are lit, heated and used and the Government recognises the important contribution that the energy efficiency of buildings has to make in meeting these targets.

The Energy Performance of Buildings Division (EPoB) leads the Department's work to address the way in which the design and construction of buildings affects climate change, by working to improve their energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions.

The Division is also responsible for the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations (England and Wales) 2012 which includes the requirement for Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).

The objective of the Division is to ensure that the Department supports the delivery of the Government's climate change objectives, ensuring that actions are ambitious but do not impact negatively on key Departmental objectives, including housing delivery.
