The Royal Marsden Hospital (RM) and its academic partner The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) form the only specialist cancer NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) that supports translational clinical research into cancer diagnosis and treatment.


An exciting opportunity has arisen within the BRC for a Patient & Public Involvement and Engagement (PPI/E) Administrator in clinical research.

Our BRC vision is to improve outcomes for everyone at risk of and affected by cancer across the UK; through development of new approaches to prevention, more accurate and earlier diagnosis, and bespoke therapies, underpinned by smart use of data and technology.

The Clinical Research PPIE Administrator provides an efficient and effective administrative support for PPIE activities for clinical research.

The post holder will work at all times with a high degree of discretion and initiative, respecting confidentiality of information.


The post holder will frequently be the first point of contact for key stakeholders (including our public contributors) and will develop excellent working relationships both internally and externally.


This position is part-time (18.5 hours/week), fixed-term contract for 2 years with possibility of extension, based in Sutton with occasional travel to Chelsea and home and/or flexible working as required and agreed with the line manager.

The hours can be spread across the entire week if necessary.

Patient and public involvement and engagement

  • To provide administrative support for PPIE activities, including arranging and administering PPIE workgroups/focus groups on behalf of researchers and managing requests from researchers for PPIE support.
Communication

  • Build excellent working relationships with our public contributors.
  • Be a point of contact for queries from staff, external bodies or the public and to respond to or redirect these to the appropriate member of staff as appropriate.
Miscellaneous

  • To assist in maintaining effective data input (as applicable) on the departmental database, Edge, data storage and efiling systems.
  • Be responsible for maintaining own professional development and be aware of current practices and future developments within The Royal Marsden and the ICR.
  • Participate in any training and personal development as selfidentified or identified by the post's line manager, i.e., relevant to PPIE.
