The School of Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University seeks to appoint a Principal Lecturer. We particularly require people with expertise in Neuroscience, Health or Positive Psychology.


This post provides the opportunity to join our dynamic and motivated team at a significant time of growth for the School of Psychology and the Faculty of Health.

This post is a senior position in the School and includes line management responsibility.

The post will help ensure we uphold our excellent staff student ratios and continue to build on our delivery of excellent teaching and research.


The School has a thriving research culture and outstanding facilities, with planning currently underway for a new city centre building which will accommodate the whole Faculty on one site.

This landmark building will provide state of the art research, teaching and learning facilities.

In REF 2021, the School was ranked in 37th place nationally with respect to research power and was the fourth largest submission from a Post 92 institution.

The School's 'Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour' incorporates our research into the following four broad themes;
Health and Wellbeing, Neuroscience, Forensic Psychology and Cognition, Education and Language.


You will have the opportunity to contribute to our successful BPS Accredited undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes, including a Masters and Professional Doctorate programme in Health Psychology and a MSc in Forensic and Investigative Psychology.

In addition we have a MSc in Brain and Behaviour and a MSc in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing. The focus of any teaching commitment will be dependent upon the expertise of the appointee.
