Head of Procurement

£53,997-£61,725 per annum (dependent on experience and CIPS qualification level)

37 hours per week (Hybrid working)

About the role


This role is an opportunity for you to lead and deliver the Council's procurement strategy, enabling outcomes that support our Corporate Business Plan and key strategic themes of economic development, climate change, empowering communities, health and wellbeing and organisational development.

Harnessing social value and sustainable procurement will be a priority.

You will oversee all procurement activity across the organisation, delivering timely procurements and offering innovative solutions.

You will manage a team of two Procurement Officers who lead and manage high value and complex procurement exercises (>£100K including FTS (Find a Tender Service)).

This will include requirement gathering and developing and producing comprehensive tender specifications, technical questions, pricing schedules and evaluation criteria.

During 2023/24 our procurement programme includes a wide variety of asset management projects, hard and soft FM requirements and various Housing Maintenance contracts.


About you
Are you an experienced Senior Procurement professional and leader who can bring commitment, enthusiasm, knowledge, and practical experience of procuring quality services and achieving excellent value for money? Are you passionate about securing additional social value?


You will be able to communicate at all levels of the organisation and share your expertise by coaching and supporting Buying Managers at all procurement stages.

You will be comfortable in engaging with stakeholders to explain public sector procurement and the regulatory landscape. As a result you will need to have demonstrable experience of procurement in the public sector working to MCIPS standards
