An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Waste Operative to join our hard working and friendly team within the Waste Management Team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.


University Hospital Southampton provides healthcare services to 3.7million people in central southern England and the Waste Management Team is responsible for the logístical management of used linen, clinical waste and domestic waste.

In addition, the department provides a regular collection service for confidential waste and an ad hoc collection service for office equipment and furniture that is no longer required.


Recycling is a really important part of waste management, and our Waste Management Team play a key role in reducing our carbon footprint through taking the time to recycle many materials on site.

This role is physically demanding and involves a lot of walking, heavy lifting and many different load handling activities.

The working hours are 37.5 hours per week on a rostered 7.5 hour shift pattern between 7am and 8pm, working 5 days out of 7.
