The Retail Sales Associate plays a vital role in a retail setting, working face to face with customers to support and facilitate fundraising efforts for charitable organizations.

Your primary responsibility will be to engage customers, educate them about the charity's mission, and inspire them to make donations or participate in fundraising activities.

Your excellent communication skills, passion for the cause, and ability to build relationships will be essential in successfully driving fundraising initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:

Proactively approach and engage customers in a retail setting, initiating conversations about the charitable organization and its fundraising efforts.

Build rapport and inspire customers to participate in fundraising activities.

Fundraising Support:
Provide information and guidance to customers about different fundraising campaigns, events, or initiatives. Explain how their contributions can make a positive impact on the cause and offer suggestions for various donation options.

Donation Processing:
Collect, record, and process donations from customers using designated systems or tools. Ensure accuracy and confidentiality while handling financial transactions and sensitive donor information.

Relationship Building:
Cultivate strong relationships with customers by demonstrating a genuine passion for the cause. Answer questions, address concerns, and provide ongoing support to individuals interested in contributing to the charity.

Event Promotion:
Assist in promoting fundraising events or campaigns taking place within the retail setting. Utilize various marketing materials, such as brochures, posters, or digital displays, to create awareness and encourage customer participation.

Donor Recognition:

Implement strategies to acknowledge and appreciate donors, such as sending thank-you notes, providing updates on the impact of their contributions, or organizing recognition events.


Training and Education:
Stay informed about the charitable organization's mission, initiatives, and impact. Continuously update knowledge on current fundraising trends and best practices to enhance personal effectiveness and inspire customers.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with the charity's internal team, retail staff, and management to align fundraising efforts with overall goals and objectives.

Share insights, ideas, and feedback to optimize fundraising strategies.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant certifications or coursework in fundraising or nonprofit management are a plus).
  • Previous experience in customer service, sales, or fundraising is desirable, particularly in a retail or facetoface setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse individuals and inspire them to support a cause.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the charitable organization's mission and the ability to convey that passion to potential donors.
  • Comfortable handling financial transactions and working with sensitive donor information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Flexibility to work during peak retail hours, including weekends and holidays, as fundraising events may occur during these times.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with pointofsale systems or fundraising software is a plus

Pay:
£600.00-£800.00 per week


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • London: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
