Description

OXFORD UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST

MEDICAL RETINA FELLOWSHIP

Applications are invited for the MR fellowships in Ophthalmology based at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, from August 2023 for 12 months in the first instance.

The Oxford Eye Hospital and its consultant body has an active research portfolio. Participation in research through the writing up of clinical studies and case reports is encouraged. The Medical Retina Consultants are also part of the cataract surgical team.

Fellows have the opportunity to access cataract surgery but only during weekend lists, there is no weekday theatre allocation within this Fellowship.

There is also the opportunity to be involved in trainee, and medical student teaching on a formal and informal basis.

As well as providing for general ophthalmic needs of the local population, the Oxford Eye Hospital receives tertiary and quaternary referral of complex disease so that Fellows can expect a broad exposure across medical retina.

The fellowship comprises a bespoke exposure to the subspecialty with an expectation of a small contribution to support the emergency eye department and on-call commitments.
