An opportunity has arisen for permanent position to the Colorectal, Head and Neck Matron position.

This is a full time position Trustwide.

The successful applicant will be fully supported by the Lead Nurse for Surgery and the surgical leadership team.

Applications are invited from individuals who can

  • Provide strong, visible, clinical leadership, whilst inspiring and empowering nurses and other clinical staff in pursuit of a shared vision
  • Ensure the effective and safe delivery of services within their area of responsibility.
  • Be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of the nursing workforce
  • Be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff
  • Work closely with other Matrons to ensure collaborative working and achievement of Trust objectives, particularly safe patient care.


The post holder will work as part of a clinically led business unit triumvirate alongside the Divisional Nurse, Clinical Director and Managing Director within the Division of Surgery.

They will support services across multiple hospital sites, delivering service improvements and maintaining operational performance in a climate of rapid change.

Our latest CQC report increased our ratings for being effective and well-led from 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good'. Our rating for caring remained as 'Good'.
