About the Role


We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as
Sourcing Team Lead on our Onboarding and Customer Projects team.

This unique role is fast-paced and entrepreneurial, working closely with new and existing customers as well as suppliers and key internal stakeholders at operational and strategic levels.

They will be responsible for ensuring all new clients are set-up for procurement success when they first join Amici.

This individual will also work with our existing customers on key savings and supply-chain related projects aligned with their business needs.

Taking a deep and professional look at customer procurement 1:1 to optimize their sourcing processes.

This is a permanent and full-time role, but we're open to discussing flexibility.

This role is Hybrid, working 2 days a week in our Glasgow office (Wednesday, Thursday) and 3 days a week from home (Monday, Tuesday, Friday).


This is a very exciting opportunity for someone that works in a lab as an Operations Manager, Lab Manager, or Study Director who wants to move out of the lab.

It could be equally suitable for someone that has worked in Technical Services of a life science or biotech organisation or has a strong background in procurement in the biotech industry.


What will you be doing?

New Customer Onboarding
  • You will be a key contact for new customers as they are setup with Amici. You will be responsible for building relationships and rapport with customers to understand their priorities and internal processes. This will include analysing their spend and purchasing patterns to ensure they are achieving maximum value for money, performing tactical sourcing and negotiations to ensure the best result for the customer. You will monitor KPIs related to new customers throughout their first 3 months with Amici to drive team performance and ensure gold standard service.

Customer Projects

  • You will be responsible for supporting our clients with bespoke sourcing projects tailored to their needs. These projects may involve savings opportunities identification and delivery, streamlining procurement through supplier consolidation, collating bill of materials data or GMP documentation for our GMP customers. You will be responsible for estimating the time/risk/effort related to each project and delegate where required.

Team management

  • Manage workload of the team and be the point of escalation for issues. Lead, coach and support the team to achieve annual business and personal goals.
  • Be a key member of the Technical Sourcing Operations Team and contribute to the development of our Operational Excellence Programme. This includes, identifying areas of improvement, updating processes, training the team, writing procedures, and monitoring ongoing effectiveness.
  • You will demonstrate effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in life sciences (or experience equivalent) and experience in a life sciences organisation
  • Skilled in manipulating data to provide meaningful analysis and able to draw conclusions and making recommendations based on this.
  • Able to influence and communicate effectively and persuasively to a range of audiences, both internally and externally
  • Effective consultive approach with customers and suppliers, able to ask probing questions and work collaboratively to solve problems
  • Previous management or supervisory experience being able to lead the team for their professional development as well as supporting them with customer escalations.
  • Good understanding of project management either through working as part of project teams or actually leading the projects.
  • Experience working in a customer facing role, ideally while working in a life sciences organisation, is desirable.
  • Willing to work flexible hours supporting our customers in the USA as required.
