The Purpose of the Role
Complete, accurate and timely finance processes within Post Office systems (including data from Post Office sales channels, branches, clients and other parties)


Principal Accountabilities

  • To complete accurate and timely: Settlement, Billing, Supplier Payments, Branch Accounting and MI reporting in line with contractual agreements
  • Interpreting data, including Identification, investigation and resolution of anomalies in data and differences between data streams
  • Understanding of, and clear/concise explanations of, account balances and processes
  • Manage enquiries and resolution of issues with branches, clients, suppliers and customers providing advice and support as required
  • Determining the necessary accounting entries to correct accounting errors
  • Identifying and escalating risks and issues and proposing solutions
  • Understand and operate Finance policies and financial controls in line with job role
  • Providing support to other team members as required, including coaching to grow colleague skills
  • Support Change activity into business as usual
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with any specific legislative, regulatory, or contractual requirements, including all POL policies, such as; the key policies and procedures on Confidentiality, Conflict of Interest, Business Continuity, Data Protectionand Equal Opportunities.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Experience Required

  • Experience in a finance environment
  • Experience in working to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working in an environment with strong financial control requirements.

Skills Required:


  • Attention to detail, with a desire for getting things right first time
  • Numeric ability to understand and interpret figures.
  • Can communicate effectively to all audiences including nonfinance experienced colleagues.
  • Ability to identify, suggest and deliver improvements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business priorities by covering different roles across the team at short notice
  • Questioning and challenging approach, with a 'Can do' attitude
