Description

Why should I choose Somerset Council?
Fixed term contract until March 2025.

Good question.

Well, for a start, we're a hugely ambitious council, committed to improving lives for the residents, communities and businesses of Somerset.

The Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme is a Lottery funded project working across and around the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, part of the Quantock Hills AONB Team.

Our work is important, but we all muck in and have fun working together to deliver it.

You'd be a critical member of the five person team; we have a busy events and activities programme both for the general public and targeted at specific audiences.

We are getting a national profile for this socially inclusive and innovative engagement work, but we also do practical projects to conserve and enhance the heritage of the area.

Your work with us will help change people's lives for the better.

You can find out more about the Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme at Home - QLPS, Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme

And that's why we're working so hard to build a sustainable organisation with a culture that rewards, values and recognises our staff, and gives everyone here the opportunity to grow and develop, personally and professionally.

If you're looking for a place where your work truly matters - where YOU truly matter - we might be just right for you.

We also promote a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible, including working from home.

What will I be doing?
We're working to improve the lives of people in Somerset - and you'll be a key part of that.

The role provides financial and administrative support to the Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme (QLPS) Manager and Project Officers.

You will be working with the QLPS Manager to ensure good financial management of the project, using the Somerset Council Dynamics 365 finance system to raise orders and process payments and monitor income and expenditure for the quarterly grant claims to the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

You'd also be keeping up our social media presence, which is a key engagement tool for us, and providing general administrative support for the team, such as assisting with event organisation and managing bookings.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.

But it will really help if you:

  • GCSE English and maths grade C or above, or equivalent
  • An understanding of data protection

We're looking for someone with proven experience working in an administrative and finance role, experience of using complex corporate financial management systems, and who is confident in the use of social media and website content management systems.

It's a bonus if you also have experience of the D365 financial management system, experience of making grant claims, and/or experience of working with, or providing services to, audiences such as young people, people on low incomes, people without their own transport and disabled people.

You'll need good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to process and analyse financial information accurately.

We're proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset.

An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

What will I be offered in return?

We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do to improve the lives of people in Somerset.

We offer great training and development opportunities, with supportive management.

As well as this, we have some fantastic employee benefits available:

  • We promote a healthy worklife balance and offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible, including working from home.
  • Generous annual leave allowance, with the opportunity to purchase additional leave
  • Staff discounts in gyms.
  • Employee Assistance for the times you may need some support and a variety of employee wellbeing services.
  • Auto enrolment onto our generous Pension Scheme and optional pension enhancement through our Additional Voluntary Contribution scheme.
  • A Flexible Benefits Scheme via salary sacrifice to obtain a cycle for work and health screenings.
  • My Staff Shop offering discounts in shops, online shopping, restaurants, cinema tickets, insurance benefits and more

Anything else I should know?
The role is part-time at 22.2 hours per week and is fixed-term role to 31st March 2025.

You'd need to be in our office in Nether Stowey on Monday mornings but otherwise working hours will be by agreement, and we all work from home for some of the week.

The salary for this role is £13,180 to £14,432 per annum.

Interviews are scheduled for 8 September 2023.
