Working with the Resuscitation Officer, the post holder will be responsible as a member of the resuscitation education team for:

  • The development of the Resuscitation Skills Lab as an education resource which provides a safe and effective learning environment.
  • The delivery of multidisciplinary resuscitation education for Trust staff and learners on placement.
  • The development and evaluation of resuscitation skills education programmes.
  • The development of multimedia technology based education resources.
  • The development of simulation facilities and courses related to resuscitation.
  • Research and audit for resuscitation skills education.
  • Line management of identified junior staff within the department.

To assist with the planning, development, delivery and assessment of specialised
resuscitation skills education programmes and assessments within simulation for
learners and Trust employees.
To set up and maintain equipment for teaching sessions as required.
To assist with the planning, organisation, and scheduling of accredited resuscitation
courses for relevant clinical staff and learners on placement within the Trust.
To possess high levels of developed manipulation and dexterity skills required for
educating health care professionals. These may include performing defibrillation, ,
airway management, demonstration of intra-osseous access etc.
To influence patient and clinical safety through delivery of effective education and

assessment programmes to ensure the safe use of highly complex equipment such as
defibrillators and emergency equipment.
To continually seek to improve the quality of education through the use of evidence
based practice, liaising with professional colleagues, reviewing literature and
evaluating feedback.
To act as a role model exploiting every opportunity to enhance the knowledge of
others in issues relating to resuscitation and to promote health and safety and risk
assessment.

To act as a mentor to Trust healthcare professionals wishing to further their teaching
skills and experience through assisting as faculty members on accredited resuscitation
courses.

To develop specialist knowledge related to resuscitation education and use this
knowledge to relate theory to practice at course provider and instructor level.
To work towards obtaining Advanced Life Support Provider Status and Resuscitation
Council UK accredited instructor certificates, for Basic Life Support, Immediate Life
Support Instructor and/or Paediatric Immediate Life Support.
To prepare for exposure at clinical emergencies, to possible contact with bodily fluids,
smells, foul linen, possible exposure to sharps, ensuring compliance with Health and
Safety standards at all times.
