About the role


You will be working in a specialist SEND environment with children age range You will help the class teacher run the class effectively to create a fun positive learning environment for the children in your care.


The facilities are amazing, there is a farm on site, a forest school and lots of fun vocational activities like woodwork, music and art for the children to name a few.

The class sizes are on average 15 and are organised according to each child's ability and needs.

Each lesson that you take part in will be specifically created to ensure that each child is included and helps them progress socially as well as academically.


The school has a huge ethos of being child focused and working hard as a team to create a fun and positive environment for every child.


The school is based within beautiful grounds and there is a huge emphasis on getting the children outside as much as possible.


Experience needed
You must have experience working with children who have special needs and have an abundance of patience. You must be able to work independently and have multiple different teaching techniques. The ability to create your own sessions would be a bonus.


Training
You will receive a full week's paid induction as well as ongoing training to help with your development.


Examples of responsibilities:


  • Preparing learning resources.
  • Encouraging children's confidence, self esteem and independence.
  • Helping children understand instructions, through repetition, rephrasing or demonstrating.
  • Putting into practice individual education, social and behavioural care
  • Providing feedback and assistance to teachers.
  • Supporting children in social activities and on outings.
  • Assisting children during therapy sessions.
  • The ability to work 1:1 and in groups.

Interview process

Step 1
Interview with a dedicated consultant to talk through the role.


Step 2

School visit:

You will arrive at the school at 09:00 and will be there until 12:00.You have a tour of the school, time in class and then an interview with the Deputy Head Teacher.


Step 3
You will find out no later than a day after your school visit if you have been successful.
