British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for an exceptional UK Estates Project Administrator to join our UK Projects teams based at Cambridge BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions.

You'll be joining our Estates Team, which covers activities both in the UK and Polar regions.

You would operate within the UK Projects team who are responsible for the delivery of construction projects at the BAS Headquarters in Cambridge.

The Estates team holds a wide range of professional disciplines, from Project Managers, Engineers, Facilities Teams and Laboratory Managers.


You'll help us to deliver administrative services to aid our construction projects across the BAS Cambridge Estate and help the Estate develop towards its Net Zero targets over the coming years.

A range of exciting projects that will form the Basis of the Organisation for future years.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining CDM compliance paperwork and letters for Cambridge construction works.
  • Compiling and tracking returns of project documents such as Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Health and Safety files.
  • Help with administration during to support financial transactions.
  • Email and diary management including booking, cancelling, rearranging as necessary.

Current projects the team are working on include a site wide plan for decarbonisation of the BAS Cambridge Estate for our Net Zero targets, new Laboratories for various scientific disciplines, decarbonisation of the BAS Kitchen, Long Term Maintenance projects to keep the Estate to a good and workable standard for staff.

For the role of UK Estates Project Administrator, we are looking for somebody who:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with a range of members of BAS staff and external parties
  • Excellent use of office packages; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
