Job Purpose


Working within a small established team, at a great head office environment, this is a great opportunity to demonstrate your established skillset and knowledge.


Supporting the payroll manager, your role will be running end to end multiple payrolls, including managing pension contributions, and engaging with the various departments within Troy.


Key Accountabilities

  • Process the payment of staff salaries, including any salary sacrifice, through the payroll system in a timely manner.
  • Administer all statutory payments in line with HMRC legislation e.g., SSP, SMP, SPP.
  • Verify all overtime hours with the appropriate management personnel before processing.
  • Working closely with HR to process joiners, leavers, and all amendments to payroll in an accurate and timely manner to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Processing statutory deductions from pay e.g., Court Orders, Student Loans.
  • Liaising with external organisations such as HMRC, Child Care Voucher providers etc to provide returns as required.
  • Submitting RTI reports to HMRC.
  • Provide support to Payroll Manager on project work which requires input from Payroll.
  • Provide support to employees to resolve any payroll queries, including tax queries and statutory calculations and managing corrections.
  • Process staff expense claims following authorisation.
  • General finance administration when required.
  • Assist in the transitioning payrolls and acquisitions, setting up payroll, CIS and Pension schemes.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and relevant departments.

Key Technical Skills and experience

  • Able to work well on their own and as part of a team.
  • Strong mathematical skills with a keen eye for identifying numerical errors.
  • Excellent communication an organisational skill.
  • Experience as a Payroll Officer, Payroll Clerk, or in a similar role.
  • Experience processing multiple payrolls.
  • CIPP Payroll or other payroll recognised qualifications are essential.
  • Experience and knowledge working with Brightpay but not essential.
  • IT literacy: proficiency in the basic functions of MS Word and experience of using MS Excel at an intermediate to advance level.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive matters professionally and confidentially.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
