An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Clinical Skills Facilitator and join the Executive Nurse Team within Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust to work alongside the Quality Matron and the Senior Clinical Facilitator within Clinical Skills Team.


We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic individual who has extensive post registration experience, experience of developing and leading programmes of education and evidence of successfully leading trust wide projects.

Shortlisting date is planned for 6th February 2023

Interview date is planned for 13th February 2023


The post holder will be responsible for identifying and development of clinical skills within the clinical arena in any settings within the Trust.

Will work with senior managers to identify core clinical skills for identified service delivery areas including Mental Health Learning Disability and Community Services and will develop and delivery training to individuals, groups or teams providing specialist advice as required.

Will also provide practical support to front line teams with the implementation of Trust clinical policies at a local level to ensure consistent high quality service.

  • To participate in the development and implementation of Clinical Practice and ensuring clinical staff have the clinical skills and education to provide safe and effective patient care.
  • To support the Clinical skill trainers in receiving regular and timely supervision and Personal Achievement contribution and Evaluation (PACE).
  • To plan and implement learning programmes to meet specific service needs. Delivering regular learning programmes to large groups, one-to-one learning and bespoke clinical skills, when necessary, as directed by the Senior Clinical Skills facilitator.
  • To ensure that practice is evidence based and that policies, guidelines and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • To support the Senior Clinical Skills Facilitator in specific learning and
development projects as directed by the Executive Director of Nursing.

  • To act as a clinical and educational role model for the Trust.
  • To work with managers and staff to ensure that clinical care is monitored, and that best practice is promoted.
  • To develop learning and development programmes (these may be face-to-face or via other learning methods for example, E-Learning) using specialist knowledge to develop high quality learning and development programmes.
  • To act as a change agent to support new ways of working.
  • To assist in the interpretation of national initiatives and to ensure that local clinical practice developments are in line with these initiatives.
  • To participate in the development, implementation and review of clinical standards, policies and care pathways to support practice.
  • To use own professional judgement when developing programmes of learning.
  • To cascade learning from development work to staff and managers.
  • To ensure appropriate training records, up to date spreadsheets and databases with training information are readily available, providing written reports when required.
  • To ensure the production of reports as requested of training/support given to staff.
  • To help maintain good communication, liaison and working arrangements within the Clinical Skills Team, Trust Divisions, other Trusts and other agencies.
  • To keep up to date will all relevant guidance and NHS initiatives and ensure the effective dissemination of relevant information as directed.
  • To comply with all relevant Trust policies and procedures.
