  • This is a rare and exciting opportunity for 2 creative and innovative engagement advisors to play a crucial role in the development and delivery of a new approach to ensure that the fens landscape can adapt to the challenges that increased flood risk and climate change will bring.
The climate emergency is the biggest challenge of our time. Temperatures are increasing and sea levels are rising faster than ever before.

Now more than ever, we need to plan and act if we are going to adapt to these changes and create resilient communities across the Fens.

Working in the Fens 2100+ team and with external contractors, you will design, plan, and deliver a variety of engagement activities, across the fens landscape to ensure engagement is accessible, inclusive, and delivered in partnership with others.

We are looking for 2 engagement advisors to work together across East Anglia and Lincolnshire to develop the story telling and narrative of Fens 2100+, buying "hearts and minds" to ensure it engages audiences now and into the future.

Jointly, your passion for partnership working and engaging the right people will ensure that the Fens 2100+ delivers a high-quality plan for adaptation which is focused on and created with, the target audiences.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You'll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team- The Fens 2100+ team is a new, progressive and pioneering group of people. Working together, to determine future investments in flood risk management, in response to climate change risks. We work with a broad range of partners and stakeholders on a large landscape scale.

We take a one team approach focused on supporting, empowering and developing ourselves and each other to deliver our set objectives and make ground-breaking advances in adaptation planning.


  • Experience/skills required
  • Essential:


You'll be an accomplished communicator with experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders, have the ability to build relationships and collaborate at all levels.

Be able to manage difficult situations and conversations whilst being comfortable in the face of challenge.

You will be a leader who champions Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and the vision and ethos of the Environment Agency, can build relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.

Have a positive attitude and the ability to work independently to prioritise workload.
Have outstanding organisation and multi-tasking skills to prioritise conflicting deadlines.
Ideally, you'll also have prior experience or knowledge of asset management or Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management.
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

  • Experience in driving behaviour change
  • A good understanding of customer service, EA policy and our statutory duties
  • Experience with large numbers of stakeholders
