The Role


At Plexus Freight we offer a complete logistics package to our customers including Road, Sea, Multi-Modal and express freight services with a specific focus on client relationships.


Reporting to the directors, the role available will be for a part time bookkeeper/credit controller, to assist the business with the day-to-day running of the monetary operations whilst upholding strict financial control methods.


Training will be offered for the role however previous knowledge of Xero is essential also a key element is excellent attention to detail, accurate data processing and having relevant experience to support a fast-paced growing business.


The role is office based in Portishead, North Somerset and will be office based for two days a week, the role in time may well increase to a full-time position depending on the companies growth.

This role is required a start date of Jan/early February 2023, depending on notice periods etc.
PLEASE NOTE THAT SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL NOT BE CONTACTED UNTIL THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY.


The job will be varied but will focus on managing the day-to-day finance of the business, this includes, matching supplier invoices, uploading supplier invoices to Xero, dealing with invoice queries, managing credit limits, credit control, filing, and generally supporting the Account Managers with ad hoc duties for all finance matters.


A competitive salary of between £21,000 to £23,000 pro rata for two days a week, dependent upon experience, is available and the chance to join a friendly and sociable team.


This will involve but is not limited to:

  • Dealing with Client accounts / invoice queries


  • Credit control

  • Sending Statements, making calls and sending letters for any overdue payments
  • Monitoring aged debt and taking appropriate action
  • Allocating payments
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Processing of Sales Receipts
  • Processing Purchase Invoices
  • Dealing with Purchase Ledger queries & maintenance
  • Producing Creditors List for monthly payment schedule
  • Liaising with Operations Director regarding monthly budget of hours/payroll/Client queries
  • Liaising with Accountants

Key Requirements

The key attributes will be as follows:

  • Previous experience is essential
  • Knowledge of Xero, Excel is essential
  • To be able to work independently
  • To have a good phone manner
  • A team player and have previous experience of working with others and solving everyday issues
  • A professional and friendly attitude
  • The ability to prioritise workload and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and have a cando attitude to work

About the Benefits:
