We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Finance Teams as a Finance Business Partner.

Reporting to the Finance Director of your assigned business unit, you will lead the finance activity for your unit and support your Director and Exec team to implement the finance strategy in order to maximise profitability through proactive review and analysis of individual business performance.


You will need to identify potential difficulties and generate workable solutions and make rational judgments by considering consequences and risks to assess the timing for a decision, whilst sustaining strong financial internal control framework aligned to the business policies and procedures, always ensuring good corporate governance.


This is a
hybrid role and the role holder will be required to go into the Harrogate office for 3 days a week, however please speak to us about the flexible ways of working.


What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more.


Business Partnering & Leadership

  • Lead and empower your team to deliver on its strategic goals and targets.
  • Use financial analysis to facilitate change by working closely with, or providing a service to, several different departments.
  • Act as key stakeholder and challenger on operational leadership decisions.
  • Balance business partnering requirements with appropriate financial governance, whilst supporting a complex, and rapidly changing business.
  • Improve impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance.
  • Build business models/cost benefit analysis to assess potential of new growth opportunities

Monthly Reporting & MI

  • Take responsibility for all financial information for your assigned business unit including: accounting; profit & loss, balance sheets; cash flow; cash management; aged debtors; preparation/review of management information.
  • Ensure that business performance is measured, analysed, explained, and understood through the delivery of key performance indicators on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis as appropriate.
  • Understand results and trends within the business, providing analysis that allows leadership teams to deliver on their operational responsibilities and take actions to drive performance.
  • Drive the process of improvement in the quality, usability, and insightfulness of management information, delivering MI to manage the business.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

  • Be accountable for the annual business plan for the assigned business unit(s), and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Improve budget and forecast processes.
  • Review your business unit's plan in line with the Insurance Broking and Pillar strategic plans and objectives and provide inputs to the strategic planning process.
  • Support the audit programme (internal/external) as appropriate.

Acquisition & Integration (A&I)

  • Support in the financial planning, forecasting, and modelling of potential A&I targets and where required perform financial due diligence.
  • Deliver integration of acquired businesses in all respects of finance areas within the responsibility of this role so they are aligned to existing controls and processes in line with agreed integration timescales.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who has/is:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or QBE) with extensive experience in financial reporting.
  • Superior understanding of the financial market within an insurance related business.
  • Proven track record of leadership, stakeholder management and aligning business and finance strategy.
