Job Summary:


We have an exciting new opportunity for a Production Supervisor to become part of the team at our Adhesive Manufacturing Site, Birmingham.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will lead and support your team ensuring the Production Lines run safely, efficiently, and effectively.

You will be required to maintain high levels of quality and housekeeping; work to deadlines and be responsible for operators complying with the company's Health & Safety procedures.

You will report to the Operations Manager and be responsible for leading a team of Production Operatives.

There will be an initial probation period of 6 months during which training will be provided if required.

To pass the probation period you will be required to successfully demonstrate your ability to train and lead your team to achieve production targets whilst maintaining safety and quality in the work environment.


Key Responsibilities:


General Housekeeping:
Ensure Operatives carry out cleaning daily, keeping the workspace hazard free. Lead and organise the cleaning up of spillages ensuring that areas of risk have suitable barriers and warnings. Ensuring that the shop floor is free of any trip hazards, obstructions and all passageways are clear. Monitor and measure housekeeping for root cause issues and resolve.


Production:
Monitor and implement processes to improve production levels to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization. Conduct daily briefings to achieve targets and communicate housekeeping, management, and maintenance requirements.


Quality Control:
Work alongside the Laboratory to ensure that products meet quality standards, reducing levels of waste/quarantine products. To report and work with management to resolve any quality issues promptly.


Safety Compliance:
Promote and enforce safety processes.

Ensure all team members understand and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, COSHH and the wearing of PPE; participate in training, and report to you any safety concerns.

You will be required to identify risks and hazards in the production area, and ensure steps are taken to reduce both.


Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and consumables ensuring there are always sufficient stock levels for production. Following reporting procedures for the purchase of stock as required.


PPE requirements:
Checking, monitoring, and reporting PPE requirements for the team. Ensuring operatives always have the correct PPE. Following reporting procedures for purchase, cleaning, replacing of PPE and maintaining the PPE issue register.


Production levels:

You will ensure the production schedule is adhered to with prompt notification to the appropriate department of any production issues and amendments to the production planner.

You will also be required to plan, in advance, the workload assigning it to your team at any given time to ensure production targets are met and allow for cover during any type of absence.


Maintenance Scheduling:
Collaborate with the Maintenance department to coordinate maintenance requirements during production to minimise downtime and breakdowns.


Documentation:
Maintain accurate charge sheets, labels, and checklists, including, incident and Health & Safety reports, and employee attendance records.


Training and Development:
Take an active involvement in promoting training and development of yourself and the team.


Key attributes, skills and abilities:


  • Ability to identify and resolve problems throughout the role.
  • Ability to communicate with the team, other departments, and management.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Solid knowledge of production processes and quality control procedures.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and a commitment to promoting a safe work environment.
  • You will be forward thinking and able to prioritise your team's workload efficiently.
  • You will have previous experience leading a team, ideally within a manufacturing environment.

Desirable Qualifications/Competency:


  • Supervisory qualification such as NVQ Levels or equivalent experience.
  • IOSH qualification preferred.
  • FLT Licence required.
  • GCSE Maths and English grade C or above.
