The post holder will practice as an autonomous advanced practitioner.

Working alongside senior medical team, the post holder will examine, assess, diagnose and treat patients within their scope of professional practice.

The job is practically based, intended to ensure skills and knowledge are related to high quality care and efficient service delivery, including achievement of national targets.

The post holder will act, at all times in accordance with their Professional Code of conduct and Trust Policies.


Clinical Responsibilities The post holder will: Contribute to the development of an excellent clinical environment which is conducive to delivering high quality patient care and the achievement of excellence in service delivery.

Work as an autonomous practitioner within trauma and orthopaedics demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and skills in relation to the assessment and management of patients.

Undertake full clinical assessment and examination of patients, providing a detailed medical history. Order/perform investigations and diagnostic tests as required. Interpret test results, where possible diagnose and initiate treatment plan.
Refer patients appropriately to medical staff/MDT as required.

Effectively communicate with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Team. Assist in the production of discharge summaries. Ensure follow up appointments/arrangements are made. Actively participate in the development of care pathways, guidelines and protocols as appropriate.

Interview and support patients and their relatives.

Educational Responsibilities The post holder will:

Participate in internal training and education programmes Promote and display evidence of development in clinical practice and related clinical research which further enhance the acumen and level of professional knowledge.

Ensure that own practice and that of others within the department is consistent with current research knowledge and is evidence based.

Establish and develop an information resource for patients and their relatives.

Actively support trainee ACPs in the service to develop. Innovate and promote new ways of working that support patient care and great patient experience.
