Casual Hospitality Assistants - Reading, United Kingdom - Reading Borough Council
Description
Job description
As part of Reading Arts and Venues, The Hexagon theatre is looking to recruit new team members ahead of our busy 2023/24 season.
We take pride in looking after the safety and enjoyment of the thousands of theatre-goers who visit us each year, as well as the theatre itself.
We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity and inclusion is the key to our success.
Reading Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to the recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.
About the role
As a member of the Hospitality Team you will:
- Welcome customers to the venue ensuring all their queries are answered and prepare and serve food and drinks orders from one of the many bars and coffee bars.
- Applicants who are more comfortable in the kitchen than behind a bar are very welcome as The Hexagon has a café.
- A background in catering is preferred but full training is provided by the supportive team members who come back year after year.
- The job requires an understanding of the principles of food safety, licensing law, good hygiene, and involves cash and manual handling as well as providing high standards of customer service.
Staff working on the bars must be at least 18 years of age, café and coffee bar staff can be 16 years and over.
About you
You must be available to take up the position in September and commit to working evenings and weekends as and when the theatre programme requires.
A rota system offers shifts when there are events and you must tell us in advance of any shifts you would not be available for.
On weekends there are matinee performances that start earlier. Some weekend work is required but you will not be expected to work them all.
If you are looking for a social role within an enjoyable and hardworking team, have an eye for detail and the confidence to match this could be the job for you
About us
The Hexagon Theatre hosts events that attract a diverse range of audience members who enjoy excellent customer service, as well as food and drinks delivered by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic professionals.
We are looking to add a few new team members to start the new season with us in September ready for the busy lead up to the annual Pantomime.
We will soon be embarking on the next chapter of The Hexagon, as we extend our premises, adding a brand new wing to the existing building - making this is the perfect time to join the team as we celebrate out 45th anniversary.
Closing Date:
Sunday 6th August 2023
Interview Dates:
Thursday 17th Friday 18th & Monday 21st August 2023
Interview Process:20 minute interview in venue or via Teams/Zoom if necessary
