Who we are:

The Citizens in Policing team welcomes and supports the integration of volunteers into West Midlands Police. Based in Lloyd House, we oversee volunteers in the Special Constabulary, the Cadet Scheme and Police Support Volunteers. We are guiding the force in how we best recruit, retain and reward volunteers within the organisation.


Why we need your help:


We have an amazing new opportunity for you to support our Citizens in Policing Coordinators, as a volunteer you will support the team to ensure information logs are updated, external queries are answered and all training is completed and accurately recorded.

You will learn about the different volunteer roles we offer and witness first-hand the importance and difference our volunteers make.


You will be given various opportunities to learn new skills as well as vastly improving those you have already gained.

You will be an integral member of the team, and the skills you gain will be a fantastic addition to your CV, as well as a massive help to us.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • We are looking for a team of enthusiastic volunteers to assist us with any of the following:
  • Ensure our information logs are kept up to date with current information
  • Ensure training is all up to date for our volunteers and chasing this if training isn't being completed/attended
  • Support with the volunteer exit process by removing volunteers who are no longer with us and asking for their feedback
  • Support with external enquiries regarding our volunteer roles
  • Ensure we have all the ID for Vetting and DBS checks recorded and completed for all of our volunteers to ensure safety is maintained.

Essential Information:

  • Volunteers are eligible to claim £5.00 towards their lunch if they volunteer over 4 hours on given day.


This role description is intended as an indicator of general areas of activity and will be amended with any changing needs of West Midlands Police - It is expected that the volunteer will be flexible, using this document as a framework.


Next steps:


  • The role will not commence until the volunteer has been security & DBS cleared. A thorough vetting process is in place for all volunteer roles. You will also be required to submit references covering the last 5 years before commencing your volunteer role.

Essential Criteria:


  • A good understanding of GDPR
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Good communications skills & a good level of written and spoken English
  • Reliable with good timekeeping skills
  • Happy to work independently or as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and good observational skills

Vetting:

The role will not commence until the volunteer has been security & DBS cleared. A thorough vetting process is in place for all volunteer roles. You will also be required to submit references covering the last 5 years before commencing your volunteer role.


Hours:

Weekdays between 08:00 and 16:00.


We are looking for volunteers to commit at least 16 hours per month, ideally for a minimum of 6 months.
